BOP Consulting, in partnership with tialt, was commissioned by Dundee Contemporary Arts to build a comprehensive picture of its social, cultural and economic impact across the past decade.
DCA is one of Scotland’s foremost contemporary arts organisations, combining galleries, a two-screen cinema, a Print Studio and an award-winning Learning programme in the heart of Dundee. With plans for significant capital redevelopment on the horizon, DCA needed a robust, evidence-based picture of the value it delivers for audiences, artists, communities and the city of Dundee – to inform future investment decisions and demonstrate its case for continued support.
Working with stakeholders, visitors and artists through interviews and surveys, we built an social and economic impact narrative spanning cultural significance, creative development, civic pride, community wellbeing and economic contribution. The study also assessed DCA’s role in Dundee’s broader transformation, evidencing a net economic impact of £5.1 million in 2024/25 and supporting the organisation’s case for future capital investment.
