BOP Consulting and Frontier Economics are currently evaluating the DCMS Museums Renewal Fund, exploring how targeted investment can help museums facing financial pressures stabilise and build greater resilience for the future

The £20m Museums Renewal Fund supports 75 organisations identified as most at risk, providing funding for immediate stabilisation alongside investment in longer-term financial sustainability.

BOP and Frontier Economics are currently evaluating how this targeted investment can help museums facing financial pressures stabilise and build greater resilience for the future.

The evaluation will track the effects of this investment over the funding period, examining changes in UK museums’ financial health, workforce, visitor numbers and public access.

Our approach combines quantitative and qualitative research to understand how funding is being used, what outcomes it is generating and how these develop over time. The evaluation will provide DCMS with robust evidence on the contribution of targeted investment to museums’ resilience, as well as lessons to inform future funding and policy.
