Creative Industries Council, Creative Climate Charter

BOP's support for the CIC Climate Working Group builds upon our broader commitment to addressing environmental sustainability within and through culture and creativity. We have developed a substantial body of research and expertise in culture, creativity and climate both in the UK and internationally. Recognising the urgency of this work, we see significant opportunities for innovation, cross-sectoral collaboration, and transformative change in this critical area. We view our work with the CIC as an integral part of these efforts.

- Consultant Genevieve Marciniak

Members of the Creative Industries Council (CIC) have collectively endorsed a new Creative Climate Charter designed to galvanise action on the climate and biodiversity crisis. The Charter was formally adopted at a meeting of the Creative Industries Council, a joint forum between the UK government and industry leaders across the creative sector.

The Charter was developed collaboratively with members of a CIC working group co-chaired by Minnie Moll, Chief Executive of the Design Council, and Alison Tickell, Chief Executive of Julie’s Bicycle. BOP Consulting served as the Secretariat for the working group, offering pro-bono administration, communications, and policy support.

As part of our environmental commitment, we aim to raise awareness and support organisations, cities, and individuals in our network towards sustainability. We view this work as an integral part of that commitment and are proud to have enabled such a crucial initiative.

Outlining eight principles, the Charter aims to unite the sector around shared goals, leveraging our collective imagination, economic influence, and leadership. It also highlights the creative industries' "unique ability" as a sector of storytellers, creators, communicators, designers, and educators to be role models for change.

Special thank you to Associate, Tom Campbell and Consultant, Genevieve Marciniak for representing BOP in this Secretariat role. To keep up to date with the CIC subscribe to their newsletter here.
