Nick Giles, Senior Associate

Nick has worked in a range of senior executive and board roles in the arts and cultural sector, encompassing theatre, music and dance. These have included Donmar Warehouse, Corn Exchange Newbury, Oxford Playhouse, Riverside Studios, and Arts Council, England, South East.

Nick took over as Director of Shoreditch Town Hall, a Grade II listed former civic building, four years ago and has led the transformation of the venue into a vital and respected non-traditional arts & events space on the London cultural map. As a non-revenue funded organisation this has involved developing a sustainable business and commercial income model to support a newly established in house contemporary theatre and performance programme as well as raising £2.3m in capital investment to enable the building to function successfully as a public space. A recently delivered fifth capital phase has seen Shoreditch’s last remaining large scale Victorian music hall auditorium, the Town Hall’s Assembly Hall, returned to full use as an 800 seat performance space for the first time since the 1960’s.

With a core of venue management and artistic programming expertise Nick’s work has also included start-ups and significant organisation change projects. This has built particular expertise in organisational and business development, food & beverage operations / franchising, capital project development and fundraising.
