BOP Consulting has been tasked by Arts Council England to consult upon and analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the Midlands music sector, including talent development and music touring.
BOP has put together an advisory group, including representatives from across the sector and region. This group will advise on challenges and opportunities confronting the sector, as well as support a survey designed by BOP and a series of workshops facilitated by BOP.
The research covers three areas:
- Music Ecology - Identifying key players for music education, artists, artist management/labels, venues, formal and informal networks, industry bodies, and festivals within contemporary popular, folk, jazz and world music
- Talent Development - Establishing what talent development activity exists in the Midlands to support the development of artists and managers, especially diverse talent
- Touring - Uncovering the key venues and networks supporting music touring in the Midlands.
In each of these areas, the potential of the Midlands, as well as its barriers to further success, will be assessed, helping Arts Council England and the sector respond to the Creative Case for Diversity.
If you are involved with music in the Midlands, please complete our survey, found here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MidlandsMusicSurvey
Please also encourage others involved with music in the region to do so. We want to hear as many voices as possible.
Please complete the survey by Sunday 31st March. It should take around 10 minutes to complete.
If you have any questions please get in touch with Bethany Lewis on email@example.com.
